I am a PhD student in the Stroke Research Group at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, supervised by Dr Eric Harshfield. Before I joined the group in October 2023, I graduated from my Master of Philosophy in Medical Sciences at Cambridge, studying the effect of rare genetic variants on sensory neuron excitability and pain sensation. I am interested in learning and applying statistical approaches to analyse genetic, metabolomic and imaging data.
My PhD project involves analysing novel risk factors for cerebral small vessel disease and vascular dementia. This will improve our understanding of the disease pathophysiology and facilitate the discovery of new therapeutic targets to reduce the risk of disease, as well as the development of effective preventive strategies. I will be using metabolomic data from the DNA Lacunar studies, as well as genome-wide summary statistics from UK Biobank, GIGASTROKE and IGAP.
